RSVP to Graduate Health Focus Group

The GSA and UHS Health Promotion Resource Center are inviting graduate students to attend an upcoming discussion focused on Graduate Student Health on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. We are seeking your feedback on ways to improve all aspects of graduate student health on campus. The event will be held at 5:30 PM in CLA 0.120. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Health Promotion Resource Center implements evidence-based programs that optimize student health to help prevent diseases and health-related behavior from interfering with a graduate students’ effort to realize their academic and professional goals. To inform the planning and application of our initiatives, we actively gather input from stakeholders throughout the University and collect and analyze data concerning student health. In order to effectively address priority health issues for graduate and professional students, we are requesting your attendance at an upcoming focus group to discuss some of the following issues:

  • Health-related assets and campus resources graduate students use and know about
  • Gaps in Health policies, programs and services for graduate students
  • Priority areas in Mental Health, Sexual Health, Sleep, Nutrition, Physical Activity, Body Image, Substance and Alcohol Abuse and Health Care Access
  • Improving communication with graduate students through effective messaging to encourage adoption of healthy behaviors and lifestyles
  • Suggested ways to partner to improve graduate student health

Please RSVP here.

On behalf of the Graduate Student Assembly and University Health Services, we thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to your participation and working with you all to create a healthier campus for all students.Sincerely,

STAGES OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Monday, March 3rd at 12:00 PM

What do a sonic branding firm, a social enterprise, an education service, and a technology start-up have in common? The founders of these companies all participated in The Bridging Disciplines Programs here at UT Austin. Stages of Entrepreneurship highlights the journey and evolution of one current student and three UT alumni entrepreneurs.

This program will focus on entrepreneurship hacks and other productivity techniques, how to finance a start-up company, how to organize business operations, and the big picture-rearview mirror of entrepreneurship. The session will end with a Q&A segment from the audience, followed by networking time with the four presenters. Want to see some startups being launched by students on campus right now? Interact with them one-on-one at the UT Austin Student Startup Expo on March 4th during UT Entrepreneurship Week.
