The Graduate Student Assembly is currently accepting applications for a range of University Governance Committees that review policies and make necessary changes. These committees and councils represent one of the strongest opportunities we have to make sure that graduate students remain an important priority to the University. Depending on your future goals, these appointments could also help develop your academic or professional profile by allowing you to participate in the internal governance structure at an institution like UT Austin. However, the GSA does not simply seek seat fillers; we want applicants who feel comfortable advocating for graduate students in areas that affect our everyday personal, academic, and professional lives. The second priority deadline is May 30 at 5 PM CST.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.) Read more about the available committees under “Committees” in the “UGovernance” menu.
2.) Nearly every committee name is linked to a University webpage that provides additional information about the committee and its work. Simply click the committee’s name. The linking page will allow you to read past meeting agendas/minutes, past annual reports, and get a better sense of the meeting schedule.
3.) When you are done researching committees, you should then click “Application” in the “UGovernance” menu.
3.) The application process allows you to save your progress (for up to 7 days) and, then, return to the website to complete your work. However, we suggest that you take about 25-35 minutes to complete the process in one sitting. The application asks you to provide a personal recommender, student information, and provide short answers to three prompts.
4.) Be sure to e-mail [email protected] if you have any further questions.
